Where Thai Tradition Meets Nature

Historic Phuket Old Town

Phuket Old Town is the cultural and historical heart of the island, built during the tin boom of the last century. Handed a conservation award in the 1990s, many examples of Sino-Portuguese architecture and Chinese shop-houses have been beautiful restored providing a unique glimpse into the past. Hidden away amongst the warren of streets and sois are a rich treasure trove of Chinese and Buddhist shrines as well as museums, quaint traditional shops and businesses, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Big Buddha

At 45-metre tall, The Big Buddha image located high up in mountains in the south of the island is Phuket's most famous landmark. From this commanding position in the Nakkerd, Hills, the views over Chalong Bay, Kata Beach and out into the Andaman Sea are spectacular as is the intricate and loving detail of this giant Buddha and the smaller 12 metre tall brass Buddha image.

Wat Chalong

Buddhist Temples, or Wats as they are known, are the most important and culturally significant symbols of Thailand. There are many beautiful Wats to be experienced on Phuket Island, with the most important and spectacular being the 18th Century Wat Chalong. Dominated by a 60 Ft richly decorated Grand Pagoda, which is said to house a splinter of Lord Buddha's bone, the site is home to many important Buddhist statues and images and is a popular temple for locals and tourists alike to offer prayers and flowers, light candles and stick gold foil to the images of Buddha and revered monks.

Elephant Trekking

Elephant Trekking offers a close up insight to the Asian elephant and an unrivalled view of the countryside as you trek along a trail through natural jungle and rubber plantations. The Chalong Highlands to the south of the island as well as Khao Lak, Phang Nga and Khao Sok National Park offer the best Elephant Trekking and with most Tours, elephant treks will also involve other outdoor activities such as a ride on bamboo raft, buffalo cart or ATV and culminating with an entertaining elephant show.

Phromthep Cape

At the southwestern tip of Phuket is the iconic Phromthep Cape, a mecca for tourists who flock here to watch the famous Phuket sunsets. The views over the Andaman Sea are spectacular and no trip to Phuket is complete without having your photo taken against this famous backdrop.
