The Coral Conservation at Nakalay Beach

Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa held the corporate social responsibility(CSR) activity under the project for the coral conservation at Nakalay Beach, this project cooperated with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. The first activities on 16th – 17th December 2017 is to planting the coral and collected the sea rubbish and crown-of-Thorns Starfish – the coral destroyer!

The management of Thavorn Hotels & Resorts realized that the natures around the world are destroying, especially, the coral reefs are dying around the world. Damaging activities such as the fishing by using the otter trawl, pollution or the human impact are the reasons to kill coral. Then this project has been prepared by management of Thavorn, start from our house – the coral reef at Nakalay Beach in front of Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa.

From the survey by the staffs of Department of Marine and Coastal Resources found that the coral reef at Nakalay Beach still has around 30% alive. This project is to protect and restore the original coral reef and in the future, we are planning to create the center to give the knowledge to the tourist for “how to travel without destroying the coral”
