I recently had the pleasure of being invited by one of the top resorts in Phuket, Thailand to spend a couple of days over at their resort and experience first-hand what they have in store for their guests.

If you’re looking for a sanctuary away from the crowds then Thavorn Beach Village & Spa is the ticket. Upon setting foot in the large airy spacious lobby, I was lulled by a sense of welcome and belonging by the more than friendly staff. I only spent three days at this retreat but I got to sample almost all of its top notch facilities and amenities

History

Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa in Kamala, Phuket opened its doors in 1988; it is the newest addition to Thavorn hotels in Phuket. The first Thavorn hotel opened in 1962 in Phuket town and next came Thavorn Palm Beach Resort in Karon. This resort is a family business and is now being managed by Mr Thavorn’s grandson. This family owned resort is one of the first resorts in Phuket to be established as a world class luxury resort worthy to the levels set by other resort destinations such as Hawaii and Bali.

Rooms

This 35 acre resort is situated by Nakalay Bay Beach, encapsulating the private resort getaway feel. There are 185 rooms consisting of three types of rooms; poolside, hillside and beachfront. Whilst each room category has its perks, I was most happy with the poolside room given for my stay. The mini veranda attached to my room opened out directly into the Blue Lagoon pool (one of the biggest swimming pools in Phuket). Of course with this option I darted out to the pool the first chance I got. The hillside rooms are the most expensive room category of the lot; with views overlooking the resort and the beach, and a jacuzzi on the private attached terrace, it’s all money well spent.
